About Me
Welcome to the Phoenix Weather Blog! This blog will provide local weather forecasts for Phoenix as well as in-depth, but easy to understand explanations and graphics of the techniques and data that forecasters use to predict the weather. I will also write blogs about severe or interesting weather affecting the Western part of the US.
My name is Chris Scragg and I’m a college student studying Journalism and Meteorology at ASU in Phoenix, AZ. I lived in Seattle, WA for five years before coming here. In Seattle I earned a degree in Digital Media and blogged about local weather under the alias “Puget Sound Weather Geek”. I also spent eight months as an intern in the Seattle KOMO News TV Station with Meteorologist Steve Pool.
My passion for weather began here in Arizona when I was seven. Seeing the huge thunderstorms during the Monsoon Season sparked my fascination with lightning and love of weather. I’ve since built other interests in photography, video production and putting all of these skills to the test while storm chasing and capturing lightning on camera in the Arizona Desert.
My goal is to inform and intrigue people about the weather, nature and science! I’m looking forward to all of the fun blogs!
